Most design systems fail the same way: a beautiful component library nobody maintains, drifting further from production every sprint. After building systems for a dozen clients, we have learned that governance matters more than pixels.

Start with tokens, not components

Color, spacing, type and radius tokens are the contract between design and code. When a rebrand means editing forty values instead of four hundred files, the system has earned its keep. We keep tokens in one versioned package consumed by web, iOS and Android alike.

Components earn their place

A component enters our libraries only after appearing in three shipped screens. Before that, it is a pattern — documented, but not frozen. This rule keeps libraries small enough that teams actually use them instead of routing around them.

One owner, office hours, changelog

Every system needs a named owner with weekly office hours and a public changelog. Contributions arrive as proposals with usage evidence, and breaking changes ship on a schedule — never as surprises on a Friday afternoon.

The payoff is compounding: our clients' feature teams report shipping new screens roughly twice as fast within two quarters of adopting these habits, with far fewer visual regressions escaping to production.

Elevating Customer Experience.
