Building the wrong app is the most expensive mistake a startup can make. Our three-week discovery process exists to kill weak ideas cheaply — with evidence, not opinions.
Week 1: Map the job to be done
We interview ten target users and shadow at least three. The output is a one-page story map: the user's goal, the painful workaround they use today, and the single moment our app must nail. If that moment isn't painful enough to pay for, we stop here.
Week 2: Prototype the riskiest flow
Not the login screen — the hard part. Offline sync, payments, matching logic: whatever could sink the project gets a clickable prototype first, tested with five users. We watch for hesitation, not compliments.
Week 3: Price it before you build it
A landing page with real pricing and a waitlist measures demand honestly. Our rule of thumb: 200 qualified signups or a paid pilot before engineering starts. Roughly a third of ideas get reworked here — that's the process working.
Teams that complete discovery ship MVPs in half the time, because scope arguments were settled with user evidence weeks before the first sprint.
